Suggestions for processing aluminum composite panels
,Tool Material: Diamond-coated carbide milling cutters should be used. The plastic in aluminum composite panels (usually polyethylene PE) is sticky, and ordinary tools are prone to sticking and wear quickly. The diamond coating effectively reduces friction and chip buildup.
,Cutting Parameters: Use high spindle speed and slow feed rate. For example, the spindle speed can be 12000-18000 RPM or higher. The feed rate should be adjusted according to the tool diameter and panel thickness, avoiding excessive speed that can lead to heat buildup and melting of the plastic.
,Cooling: If possible, use air cooling (compressed air) to blow away chips and assist in cooling, preventing the plastic from melting and sticking to the tool. Liquid cooling is generally not necessary.
,Fixing: The aluminum composite panel must be fixed flat and securely on the worktable, preferably using a vacuum suction table, to prevent vibration or movement during processing.
