TCT 2 flute comprssion bits and 3 flute
1. Cutting efficiency and feed speed
Double-edged knife:
Fewer blades, large chip removal space for single cutting, suitable for high-speed and low-load processing.
Advantages: Low machine tool power requirements, smooth chip removal, and not easy to stick to the knife (especially suitable for soft or sticky materials such as aluminum alloy and plastic).
Disadvantages: Fewer cutting times per revolution, and lower efficiency than three-edged knife at the same speed.
Three-edged knife:
More blades, higher number of cutting times per unit time, suitable for medium-speed and high-feed processing.
Advantages: Efficiency is improved by about 20%~30%, suitable for mass production of hard materials (such as hardwood and stainless steel).
Disadvantages: Small chip removal space, high-pressure cooling or chip breaking design is required, otherwise it is easy to accumulate heat.
2. Processing surface quality
Double-edged knife:
The cutting force is concentrated on the two blades, which is easy to produce slight vibration and slightly lower surface finish (higher Ra value).
Suitable for rough processing or scenes with low surface requirements.
Three-edged knife:
Multiple blades share the cutting force, running more smoothly, and better surface quality (lower Ra value).
Suitable for finishing or occasions with high requirements for workpiece finish (such as furniture edge banding, precision metal parts).
3. Tool life and durability
Double-edged knife:
Single-edged knife has a large load and wears faster, but the edge repair is relatively simple.
Suitable for short-cycle and small-batch processing.
Three-edged knife:
Multiple blades share the cutting force, single-edged wear is slowed down, and the theoretical life is extended by about 30%~50%.
However, the wear of the chip groove needs to be checked regularly, and the maintenance cost is slightly higher.
4. Applicable materials and scenarios
Recommended scenarios for double-edged knives:
Soft metals (aluminum, copper), non-metals (acrylic, PVC), and thin plate cutting.
Low-power machine tools or manual equipment (such as woodworking engraving machines).
Recommended scenarios for three-edged knives:
Efficient cutting of hard materials (hardwood, stainless steel, carbon fiber), and thick plates.
High-rigidity CNC machine tools (such as machining centers, high-precision woodworking CNC).
