Classification Of End Mills
There are many kinds of milling cutter shapes. Ordinary milling machines and CNC milling machines are used to process groove and linear contour, and milling and boring machining centers are used to process cavity, core and curved surface contour.
Milling cutters are generally divided into:
1. Flat end milling cutter: finish milling or rough milling, milling grooves, removing a large number of blanks, fine milling of small area horizontal plane or contour;
2. Ball end milling cutter: semi finish milling and finish milling of curved surface; The knife can finish milling small chamfers on steep surfaces / straight walls.
3. Round nose milling cutter: rough milling with small surface change, less narrow concave area and more relatively flat area.
4. Flat end milling cutter: with chamfer, it can be used for rough milling to remove a large number of blanks, and can also be used for fine milling of small chamfer on flat surface (relative to steep surface).
5. Forming milling cutter: including chamfering cutter, T-shaped milling cutter or drum cutter, tooth cutter and internal R cutter.
6. Chamfering cutter: the shape of chamfering cutter is the same as that of chamfering, which is divided into milling cutter for round chamfering and milling cutter for oblique chamfering.
7. T-knife: it can mill T-groove.
8. Tooth profile cutter: milling out various tooth profiles, such as gears.
9. Rough leather cutter: a rough milling cutter designed for cutting aluminum copper alloy, which can be processed quickly.
